Ubisoft has pushed the release date of their upcoming big screen adaptation of Assassin's Creed from June 2015 to a dog days release of August 7. for reasons unknown. Though little is known about the film at the Michael Fassbender produced-starring film, with such a short delay it's assuredly nothing serious, probably having to do with Ubisoft not wanting to compete with a big tentpole summer release (with June 12's Jurassic World being the most likely candidate for competition). The film's original release date was June 19.

No word on which, if any, of the game's historical assassins Fassbender will play, although his character is apparently a modern-day bartender, whose skills should lend themselves well to his assassinating lineage and probably means he's not playing longtime series protagonist Desmond Miles.
