Metal Gear series creator Hideo Kojima is a man of enigmatic thoughts, so when he says that Metal Gear Solid V will be available for players to play “on whatever you want, whenever you want,” you have to wonder just what he means. In a recent interview with CVG, Kojima said that being able to extended the Metal Gear experience beyond just the game proper is something KojiPro has been working on since MGS4.
You can certainly see it in Peace Walker and the sadly non-localized iOS Metal Gear title Social Ops, and from that trajectory you can guess where Kojima might be going. The director has already expressed interest in letting players customize and create experiences of MGSV’s open-world. It would naturally follow that the game will have some sort of tactical smartphone and tablet integration, although knowing Kojima we bet it’s something far more ambitious.
What will it be? You’ll just have to sit tight until the game is released (probably sometime in late 2014). Kept you waiting, huh? Uh yeah, you did.
