Police in Lakewood, Calif. have arrested the man who brutally punched a gas station clerk who refused to let him pay a dollar for a $1.41 cigar. On Wednesday, detectives arrested Long Beach resident Kendrick Ruth, 35, near a Long Beach motel.

The incident occurred back on Sep. 7. Ruth handed 23-year-old Yadira Lara a dollar bill in an attempt to pay for a $1.41 Swisher Sweet cigar, then allegedly struck her after she informed him that he would need to pay the additional 41 cents. Lara's left eye—which she already has problems with due to an injury sustained as a child—was severely damaged and she could lose sight permanently.

Ruth was charged with robbery and assault and taken to Los Angeles County Men's Central Jail.
