On Thursday, the "thirst trap" becomes a positive. D.C.-based lifestyle brands MLK2Madison and Preptser Punk have collaborated to present Thirst Trap DC, a monthly happy hour that wrings all of the humor out of the embarrassing social media trend. The event will highlight a different charity each month, and the first will be Tea Takeover, which combines the efforts of multiple charities. It's current project involves pooling funds for a mission to Kingston, Jamaica.

The first event will be held at Black Whiskey (1410 14th St. NW) from 6 p.m. until 2 a.m. It will feature erotic art courtesy of Coral Anderson, "Red Light District" performance art and music by DJs Spinser Tracy and Harry Hotter. Food will be provided by Kushi-Moto, and there will be drink specials available as well.
