For the past five seasons, we watched Walter White manipulate, outsmart, kill, and rise to become wealthier than anyone could have ever imagined. This All Leads to Malcolm in the Middle
You knew this one was coming.
Though this is funny and all, there really has been a television series that ended this way. Newhart ran in the 80s, and starred comedian Bob Newhart. Before Newhart, though, he starred in another popular show called The Bob Newhart Show. Though both shows starred the same actor, they both had different characters and had no link to each other other than Bob Newhart. Considered one of the most memorable finales in TV history, at the end of Newhart (eight seasons), Bob Newhart's character gets hit by a golf ball, and wakes up as his character from The Bob Newhart Show, and it's revealed that he dreamt up the entire Newhart series. It was as big as a surprise as anyone could have expected, and it linked both shows, even though they aired about 15 years apart.
This is literally like if Breaking Bad ended with Hal from Malcolm in the Middle waking up, turning over to Lois and telling her he had a bad dream about becoming a meth dealer.
