Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg officially made his stance on immigration reform publicly known after working behind the scenes on raising awareness for the issue with his organization FWD.us.
“These are issues that don’t just touch our part of the industry, but touch on the right thing to do as a country,” Zuck said at an event for House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (which, as a sidenote, also featured MC Hammer). Zuck spoke about the criticism that he and other Silicon Valley honchos are only invested in immigration reform so they can bring in more tech workers from other countries. "This is something that we believe is really important for the future of our country — and for us to do what's right," he said.
The 29-year-old billionaire revealed that he became inspired when he taught a class on entrepreneurship, and after asking a few kids if they were worried about anything, one said: "I’m not sure I’m going to be able to go to college because I’m undocumented.”
“It was impossible to see the difference between them, because there was no difference," Zuck continued.
Zuck made his comments at the event after hosting a viewing of "Documented," a documentary on Jose Antonio Vargas, an immigration activist who revealed himself as being undocumented in a 2011 New York Times Magazine piece.
