A 22-year-old tourist suffered severe injuries after being struck by a cab that jumped onto the curb outside of Rockerfeller Center in Midtown Manhattan this morning. According to the NYPD, the incident occured near 49th Street and Sixth Avenue around 11:19 a.m. and the woman was rushed to Bellevue Hospital. A man on a bicycle was also hit by the cab, but only suffered minor injuries.

Dr. Mehmet Oz of The Dr. Oz Show rushed from his office, which is just across the street. Oz credits pedetrians Max Crespo, 40, and David Justino, 44, for saving the woman's life. “The real hero in this is Plumber Dave,” Oz told the Wall Street Journal. Seeing that one of the woman's legs had been severed, Justino wrapped his plumbing belt around her leg, creating a tourniquet. A hot dog vendor then placed the leg in an ice cooler. Witnesees told the New York Post that the woman appeared to have lost both legs just below the knees.

At the time, it's still unknown how the vehicle ended up on the sidewalk.
