Amidst all of the surprise announcements this past weekend at San Diego Comic Con, an equally tantalizing bit of news got lost in the shuffle: Fight Club is getting a sequel.
Attending the "Ode to Nerds" panel, author Chuck Palahniuk revealed he plans to continue the saga of the Narrator - whose name he confirmed as "Jack" - Marla and of course Tyler Durden in a series of graphic novels that take place a decade after the events of the original. The earliest the first installment could arrive is 2015, but Palahniuk took to his email to preview the "dark and messy" premise: "Nowadays, Tyler is telling the story, lurking inside Jack, and ready to launch a comeback. Jack is oblivious. Marla is bored. Their marriage has run aground on the rocky coastline of middle-aged suburban boredom. It's only when their little boy disappears, kidnapped by Tyler, that Jack is dragged back into the world of Mayhem."
This has the potential to be great - or it could be yet another in a long line of unneccessary continuations. It's about a year and a half down the pipeline so for now dig up your copy of the original novel and David Fincher's classic film adaptation.
