It should go without saying that everything that goes down on Breaking Bad should absolutely not be tried at home, but one man decided to use the show as inspiration in a crime anyway. According to KTVB, 27-year-old Jason Hart of Nine Mile Falls, WA, allegedly murdered a 33-year-old woman named Regan Jolley, then attempted to dispose of her body in a tub of acid—just like he saw in Breaking Bad.
Dean Settle, who was staying with Hart when the murder allegedly occurred, told police of the Breaking Bad connection: "The only thing I know or feel about it—that was his favorite series," Settle said. "That's what he told me. I think he used it as instructions to go do what he was doing to dispose the body."
Settle was also the one who found Jolley's body in a tub of acid in a nearby garage. "I went in the garage and there was a puddle of water on the floor," Settle explained. "I went that direction, a direction, I normally wouldn't go in. That's when I found Regan."
According to police, a Breaking Bad DVD featuring the episode where Jesse attempts to dispose of a body in a bathtub of acid only to discover that acid eats through bathtubs as well—Walt chastises him for not buying a plastic container, because hydrofluoric acid doesn't eat through plastic—was found in Hart's DVD player.
Hart pleaded not guilty to second degree murder. Walter White is not a role model, everybody!
