The Friday night arrest of two men at a housing project at Jamaica, Queens resulted in a riot and tense confrontation with police. According to the NYPD, 27-year-old Raynard Fields and 33-year-old Corey Crichlow were seen with drugs inside of a car outside of the Baisley Park Housing Projects. When officers approached the vehicle, they claim an officer was pushed to the ground.
However, witnesses say the NYPD sparked the violence, dragging one of the men out of the vehicle and beating him on the ground. Police also beat the other suspect when he got out of the car. This resulted in 50 or so people angrily marching down to the 113th Precinct to protest, but they arrived to find police clad in riot gear. Luckily, the conflict ended without additional violence.
"I am sick of the 113th Precinct harassing the young black men in the Baisley projects," Kathy Moore said to the New York Daily News.
