Here's a simple rule for cab drivers to adhere to: Don't punch your passengers. It will probably cost you your job, if you didn't already know that. One D.C. cabbie had his license suspended by the D.C. Taxicab Commission after he was found guilty on Jan. 9 for swinging on a passenger. Kefyalew B. Teshome was found guilty on a misdemeanor charge for attacking a passenger last March.
Teshome allegedly attacked a passenger who exited his cab. He was charged with simple assault on Oct. 18, and entered a plea of not guilty. Once the commission learned of his conviction, they suspended his license and hit him with a $1,000 fine.
The commission also agreed that allowing Teshome to drive would be an "imminent danger" to the general public. In addition, he was sentenced to 60 days of community service. If you're a cab driver, you want to be thought of a nice person—a hero even—not an asshole.
Don't be one.
