The FDNY responded to a bomb scare in the Bronx yesterday afternoon, but police later confirmed that it wasn't a bomb, but actually a grenade. According to an NYPD spokesman: "It was a grenade that was rendered safe...There's a very big difference between a bomb and a grenade."
The grenade's origin is unknown, but the spokesman was quick to emphasize, "no bomb, no terrorism link."
