There’s a fine line between being sarcastic and being grating, and Anthony Bourdain seems to effortlessly stride across it as if it were a boulevard. Simply put, he’s a badass.

On his Travel Channel series Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations, he travels around the world to explore local cuisines and take in other cultures. It’s a concept that’s been explored frequently by shows, but Bourdain seems to handle it differently than others have before. Unlike Andrew Zimmern, whose similar series Bizarre Foods also airs on Travel, Bourdain doesn’t demean other cultures by pointing out how different and strange they can be. He’s respectful about it, even with his overall grumpy demeanor. The dude just loves food.

He also totally dissed Rachael Ray, which is something many of us have wanted to do forever. So props for that.
