24-year-old Jeanette Hayes only recently graduated from the Pratt Institute of Art and Design in NYC, but she's already making huge strides in the art world. Her paintings and collages bring together high and low culture, often combining something like a classic Renaissance work with GIFs or screenshots from Photobooth, YouTube, and Twitter.
Last September, she was in a widely acclaimed group exhibition at NYC's Half Gallery alongside Girls star Jemima Kirke and Jay Miriam titled, Hearsay, where she showed her Botticelli Photobooth series. It stood out as an indication of our contemporary condition—torn between the past and the future, as the art world often can be, as well.
When she's not focusing on her fine art, she's doing graphic design for edgy fashion labels like Proenza Schouler and Opening Ceremony. 2012 was the year people realized that she's an artistic force to be reckoned with, but 2013 is the year she'll certainly take off. —Cedar Pasori
