"Jumanji" Remake Gets A New Writer

Whether you want it or not, Columbia Pictures is gearing up for a remake of the 1995 family comedy, Jumanji. And according to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio has hired writer Zach Helm (Stranger than Fiction) to pen the script. The movie will again center on a supernatural board game that comes to life and unleashes a jungle upon the real world.

There is no word on who will direct or star in the movie, but this seems to be a high priority for the studio at the moment. However, after the Jumanji-esque Zathura flopped at the box office in 2005, you have to wonder how many people are craving another movie based on a magical board game.
