Amazon Reportedly Launching Smartphone in 2013

Watch out Apple.

None

It's hard to imagine the iPhone ever being dethroned, but Amazon is making a play for the smartphone with the reported release of its own device next year. In talks since 2011, the Amazon smartphone will sale between $100 to $200 and be manufactured by Foxconn, one of the companies that produces the iPhone. As reported by Steve Chuang at Taiwanese Economic News

Market observers pointed out that Amazon has emerged as one of the most competitive players in the global market for mobile Internet devices, mostly thanks to its low pricing strategy. Backed by its huge loyal consumer base and successful marketing strategies, the U.S. brand is believed to quickly gain its ground in the segment for smartphones in the short term.

Given Amazon's reach, will the electronic commerce company totally change the game with its smartphone?
