PlayStation Mobile Development for PS Vita, Phones and Tablets is Now Open

Apply for the dev kit and get your games on PlayStation.

After a limited launch last month, PlayStation Mobile has been opened up to all interested developers. Game devs can apply for the PlayStation Mobile developer program to get access to the dev kit for a full year for $99. At that point they can publish games on PS Vita as well as PlayStation-certified Android tablets and phones.

Here's what PlayStation Mobile team member Sarah Thomson said on the PlayStation Blog:

We believe we’re in a ‘golden age’ of game development and the Dev Portal lowers the barriers of entry for developers to create and publish titles including games directly to the most diehard and passionate fans in the industry.

Has there ever been a real, dedicated portable gaming system before that opened development up to all applicants? Do you think the PlayStation Network store is going to become flooded with crap like the iTunes store is, or will we truly enter a "golden age" of PlayStation gaming?
