Colorado Becomes First State to Legalize Marijuana, Washington Becomes the Second

Other big news from last night.

People will legally be getting mile high in Colorado quite soon. Last night, it was announced that the state will pass Amendment 64, which will make recreational use and the sale of marijuana legal up to one ounce to anyone 21 and older. Residents will also be able to grow no more than six marijuana plants in the privacy of their homes.

Amendment 64 will require that the first $40 million raised by revenue from the now taxed weed "be credited to the public school capital construction assistance fund." That's a small price to pay to Colorado potheads. Voters in the state of Washington approved a similar initiative that will legalize recreational use of marijuana up to an ounce, beginning on December 6.
