Const. Robert Sparling clearly isn't as charming as he thinks he is. Last March, 21-year-old Marlee Dorinda Vigger crashed her vehicle into another, and when Sparling administered a breath test she failed. Luckily, no one was injured in the accident. Weeks later, the two found themselves in the same bar, when Sparling sent her a text saying "If you buy me a beer, I’ll forget everything at trial."
She refused, and showed the text to her lawyers, who used it to defend her. They argued that it killed the credibility of the evidence that Sparling had against Viggers, plus, it just made him look completely lame. Sparling testified that it was a joke, but the judge called it "utterly stupid." Still, he didn't believe that the results of the breath tests were inaccurate.
Viggers was fined $1,500 and ordered to stay off of the road for a year.
