It looks like Wonder Woman may be getting another shot at the small screen as Vulture is reporting that The CW is moving ahead with a script for a potential TV series based on the character’s early days. Tentatively titled Amazon, this show would reveal Wonder Woman’s origins and how she became the hero that everyone knows today. The script will be written by Allan Heinberg, who worked on Grey’s Anatomy and The O.C. in the past, as well as a stint on the Young Avengers comic book back in 2005.

This news comes just over a year since the David E. Kelley Wonder Woman show was axed by NBC before it even premiered, but this series seems to be going in a completely different direction. For now, though, everything is in the script phase with no pilot agreement as of yet.

It will be interesting to see whether or not this will change Warner Brothers’ plans to bring the character to the big screen. This show could serve as prologue to a movie, or it could be a replacement. Surely we’ll learn more as time goes by.
