A Microsoft patent has just surfaced that shows what could be the next evolution in gaming technology: an "immersive display" that extends your TV to every surface of a room. Then your movements are tracked by some kind of Kinect-like sensor.
It's just a patent, so there's no guarantee this will ever actually become a reality. It would be completely impractical in any room that isn't square with white walls. But it has some cool potential applications, like being able to actually see enemies sneaking up on you in your peripheral vision.
As Joystiq points out, Microsoft has even released concept videos of similar tech in the past, so it's something they've been experimenting with for a while.
