Last month, Apple received $1.05 billion in a ruling against Samsung, but apparently, it wasn't enough. On Friday, Apple requested from Judge Lucy Koh that she add an additional $707 million and a permanent ban on the U.S. sales of 26 Samsung smartphones and three tablets. In response to the motion, Samsung is demanding a new trial with damages "at a minimum" reduced by $35 million because they believe that the jury miscalculated some of their numbers when reaching their final verdict.
In a breakdown of its motion, Apple is requesting "an extra $400 million for design infringement, $135 million for infringement of its utility patents, $121 million in supplemental damages, and $50 million in prejudgment interest." The company also got in a couple of digs in their filling stating "the initial success gained through the sale of these six cloned products was the springboard for the second-generation Galaxy S II line of products as well as numerous other infringing smartphones." Way to kick them while they're down.
