This shocking video shows an NYPD officer shooting a pit bull mix in the head at point blank range. The dog, Star, was only trying to protect its owner, a homeless man named Lech Stankiewicz, who had suffered a seizure. The dog charged at the officer, who fired once, striking the animal in the head. Star is seen writhing on the ground in pain, and the crowd snaps on the officer.
It's painful to watch. The dog was taken to Animal Care & Control and is in critical condition, but is still alive.
