Facebook is getting political. The social network is set to launch a new application that will allow residents of Washington state to register to vote directly from their Facebook page. 

The app, which is developed by Microsoft, will pull screens from the official Washington state page put them onto the user's Facebook page. It will also pull information from the user's Facebook profile, including name and date of birth, to use in the voting application.

Washington is one of the few states that allows its residents to register to vote online. Since 2008, it has processed 475,000 registrations, with 32% of this year's voting applications coming via the Internet.
