The 25 Best Batman Comics Of All Time

For nearly 75 years, Batman has been one of the dominant forces in the realm of pop culture. The story of how an orphaned Bruce Wayne trained his body to perfection and honed the vast skills of his mind in order to avenge the murder of his parents has transcended comic books and is now a classic example of American folklore.

And since his debut in the pages of Detective Comics #27 in 1939, the character has dominated television, movies, comics, and even video games. Superman may be DC Comics’ mascot, but Batman is the company’s true money-maker. And it’s not just the look of the character that makes people gravitate towards him; it’s the endless supply of classic comic book stories he has been involved with that has made him a household name.

Whether he’s part of an effective superhero tale or a sophisticated epic that changes the way we look at comics themselves, Batman always seems to be at the forefront of the evolution of the industry. And now the themes and plots from those very stories are being adapted into the final installment of Christopher Nolan’s big-screen Batman trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises.

So, as we prepare for the release of this mammoth blockbuster, let’s look back at the stories that helped pave the way for it, with The 25 Best Batman Comics of All Time.
