If you need any further proof that Hollywood is fresh out of ideas, then check this out. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Columbia Pictures President Doug Belgrad said that the studio is setting its sights on a reboot to 1995's board game comedy, Jumanji.
In a short, yet ominous, quote, Belgrad said, "We're going to try and reimagine Jumanji and update it for the present."
And with those simple words, the world could be on the precipice of yet another pointless reboot. We're not quite sure how you can bring Jumanji into the present being that the original certainly isn't that old, but instead of focusing on an enchanted board game, perhaps this updated reboot will be about a supernatural cellphone game.
Either way, we can't say we're surprised by this news.
