Rejoice: According to The Hollywood Reporter, HBO has opted to renew Aaron Sorkin's freshman series The Newsroom for a second season, as well as their hit show True Blood for a sixth season. Both shows have been performing well in the ratings, so the news surely comes as no surprise - still, it's nice to have confirmation, though.
As previously reported, the current season of True Blood is creator Alan Ball's last as showrunner of the series - he will be replaced by Nurse Jackie alum Mark Hudis, and remain an executive producer to allow time to work on other projects.
