Bus drivers aren't often thought of as heroes, but 52-year-old Stephen St. Bernard became a legitimate one when he rescued 7-year-old Keyla McCree from danger. After seeing McCree standing near the edge of an AC unit outside of a third-story Coney Island apartment, St. Bernard swooped over in the nick of time to catch her after she fell.

According to police, Keyla, who is autistic, must’ve pushed one of the partitions holding the air conditioner in place and made her way outside. Meanwhile, her mother, Shaleema, was caught up watching her other child. Keyla suffered minor injuries, and St. Bernard has a torn tendon in his shoulder, but that’s nothing for a true-life hero.
