For over a decade, Wes Craven's Scream series has been one of the most up-and-down horror franchises in all of Hollywood. Originally, it was a completely fresh and unique satire of the genre, but a string of mediocre sequels eventually watered down the original vision of it. Then Scream 4 came along last year and managed to inject a little bit of life into the series.
Now, MTV is looking to piggyback on the resurrected property's success by turning it into a television series, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The show will be produced by Tony DiSanto (The Hills, Teen Wolf, Teen Mom) and Liz Gateley(The Hard Times of RJ Berger), but other than that, no real details have been released. The search is still on for a writer, so it isn't known whether or not this show will exist in the same universe as the films or go off on its own entirely.
