"Zelda: Link To The Past" Could Be The Next 3DS Remake, Miyamoto Says

Nintendo could go back to the past again.

None

1991's A LInk to the Past is considered by many to be the ultimate 2D Zelda game, and series creator Shigeru Miyamoto has been toying around for some time with the idea of remaking it. Given the success of the 3D treatments of Ocarina of Time and even Star Fox 64 on the 3DS, that's probably a fantastic idea.

But EDGE reports that Miyamoto is also considering making another game in the same style, or even a sequel: "I think the answer would be the same if we're talking about just porting," he said, "but I think I'd be even more interested in creating something new maybe based on, or starting from, A Link To The Past. I think it's important to bring some really new software."

He said the decision between remake or sequel could rest on which of his colleagues at Ninteno would be available to work on the game, noting that in particular he would trust WarioWare creator Koichi Kawamoto.

He also mentioned that the Wii U might see an innovative new F-Zero title, though that seemed especially speculative.

Would you rather have a 3D remake of A Link to the Past or a full-blown sequel? Let us know in the omments or on Twitter.
