Ever since Family Guy premiered on Fox back in 1999, series creator Seth MacFarlane’s name has always been in the discussion as one of the funniest people in Hollywood. But over the last few years, Family Guy has fallen from grace, and its spin-off, The Cleveland Show, has fared even worse. But in his big screen directorial debut, MacFarlane looks to be back in top form.

Ted is about a maladjusted man named John (Mark Wahlberg), who tries to pursue a relationship with the woman of his dreams (Mila Kunis), only to be dragged down by his walking, talking teddy bear named Ted, voiced by MacFarlane himself. But Ted isn’t like the sugary, cutesy bear that you would find on the side of a jug of laundry detergent; instead, he is a pot smoking, trash talking, groping, menace to society that wants nothing more than for John to stick around with him for the rest of his life.

The premise might seem absolutely ludicrous, but the combination of excellent animation, MacFarlane’s hilarious voice-acting, and some raunchy one-liners make this trailer for Ted one of the best we have seen in a while. Sure, we’re not quite buying Wahlberg playing a 27-year-old, but that doesn't matter when you get to watch him smoke out of a bong with a talking teddy bear and rattle-off white trash names for women at a rapid-fire pace.

This three-minute bit of footage just made Ted one of our most anticipated movies of the summer. Let’s hope the end result is this good when it gets released on July 13.
