Orlando Fox Affiliate Calls Neo-Nazis a “Civil Rights Group”

How do you figure?

Despite the swastika, Fox 35 in Orlando apparently failed to realize that a neo-Nazi organization patrolling the streets of Sanford, Florida—where Trayvon Martin was killed—to “protect white citizens” was actually a neo-Nazi organization.

A member of the group, known as the National Socialist Movement, refers to the organization as a “civil rights group,” and Fox 35 doesn’t challenge this notion. Worse, the header that appeared on Fox 35’s website also referred to the National Socialist Movement as a civil rights group.

Jeff Schoep, leader of the group, says that the radical Detroit faction traveled to Sanford to ensure that “white citizens aren’t left defenseless” should riots erupt surrounding George Zimmerman’s shooting of Martin. Oddly enough, Schoep didn’t have much sympathy for Zimmerman, saying he appeared “half-Hispanic or Cuban or something. He certainly doesn’t look white to me.”

Fox 35 eventually got it right, but there’s so much wrong with this entire situation that you really can’t do anything but shake your head.
