Nintendo has confirmed the recent rumor that there's a new shade of 3DS hardware on the way. The "Midnight Purple" console will be available beginning on May 20th, coinciding with release of Mario Tennis Open.
Midnight Purple is the fifth 3DS color released in the US, after Cosmo Black, Aqua Blue, Flame Red and Pearl Pink. Nintendo showed a wide range of 3DS colors at E3 2010, including the "Midnight Purple" model and a yet-to-be-released orange version of the console.
According to Polygon, chatter about the new console model picked up after a Gamefaqs forum user said they saw a listing for the console on EB Games. The forum-goer said that the listing had a May 20th release date.
