Nintendo's preparing for the launch of Kid Icarus: Uprising with a nationwide multiplayer tournament to be held at Gamestops across the country. The competition kicks off tomorrow at a Gamestop in San Francisco, followed by a March 11 battle in Orlando, FL, a March 15 date in LA, and the culmination in New York on March 22, the night before the game's release.
Tourney bracket winners will be flown to New York to participate in the finals, with room, board and "entertainment" paid for. They'll also get copies of the game and $150 Gamestop gift cards to spend on whatever they want (though they'll likely want to pick up a circle pad pro to use with the game). The grand prize includes the game, a $500 Gamestop gift card, a Kid Icarus-themed 3DS system, copies of Super Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart 7, Pilotwings Resort, and Star Fox 64 3D, and a big-ass winged trophy. Yowza.
Even if you don't want to participate in the competition, you can head to these Gamestop locations during tourney time to play the game. If you head to the New York store on the 22nd you can even buy it a day early.
