The Simpsons Are Going Freemium On iOS With "Tapped Out"

D'oh.

None

The Simpsons have done everything (just ask Butters). Well, everything except freemium gaming. That's about to change, though, as EA is set to launch The Simpsons: Tapped Out for iOS. The game will task players with rebuilding Springfield after Homer fucks it up, and the show's voice actors will lend their talent to make the whole thing more believable.

Like other freemium games, you don't have to shell out any actual cash if you want, but buying more of the game's "donuts" will speed up leveling etc. EA assures CNET that "People that don't want to pay can still enjoy the title," while "people who are more impatient can throw a little bit of money at it."

Tapped Out should be hitting the app store in the coming weeks, with an Android version coming later on. Apparently it's heading up EA's new push toward freemium gaming. We'd like to wish them luck, but it wouldn't be sincere (and it's not like they'll need it). Interested in another Simpsons game? Let us know in the comments or on Twitter.
