10. Clueless (1995)
Chances of getting laid (1-10): 4. Lots of hotties, but unless you’re rolling in dough they’re going to be tough to snag. Plus, they’re still in high school.
The drink situation (1-10): 7. Hard alcohol, body shots, and some recreational pot smoking make this a party smorgasbord.
Chances of police interference (1-10): 1. These Beverly Hills kids are richer than rich. I don’t think we have to worry about cops.
How’s the music? (1-10): 9. Lots of hip-hop and R&B until a later scene when we get to see The Mighty Mighty Bosstones live. Bonus point for the incredibly catchy “Rollin’ With The Homies” rendition by the late Brittany Murphy.
Just the thought of hearing Brittany Murphy singing “Rollin’ With The Homies” brings a tear to our eyes. OK, maybe not, but it is a highlight of Amy Heckerling’s 1995 Beverly Hills comedy Clueless.
The film, along with the hit TV series Beverly Hills, 90210, helped to define the ’90s more than any other pop culture entities. Sweet 1990s fashion, hip 1990s music, and hella fun 1990s parties. Body shots and pot smoking distinctly mark this high-class party scene.
Plus, we get some great scene chewing from Alicia Silverstone, Stacey Dash, and Brittany Murphy, and an early performance from Paul Rudd. Not to mention the grandiose live performance by The Mighty Mighty Bosstones. Do you remember the Summer of Ska? Yeah… Neither do we.
