Before you start sending invitations for that "Yay,Dexter got renewed for two more seasons!" party, you might want to hear this news (and rethink your bittersweet celebration).

Showtime president David Nevin recently told Entertainment Weekly that your favorite serial killer's upcoming seasons might be his last. According to Nevin, the next two seasons will be marching Dexter towards its conclusion, with every plot twist crafted with the end in mind.

“There’s things that are going to happen [this season] that will set up a very clear endgame that will take two seasons to tell. You have got to be there for the last two episodes.” Nevin also added a positive saying that, "Having that definitiveness always helps. We were able to plot very clearly. It’s rare to have that degree of certainty.”

So, on the upside, Dexter fans sound as though they are in for a monumental finale, but on the downside, the drama has been given an impending date of death. Now when we watch, all we will hear is the clock tick, tick, ticking.
