So now it's cool for Republicans to make fun of the White House shooting.

Yesterday afternoon, University of Texas Austin College Republicans President Lauren E. Pierce asked people not to shoot President Obama, even though it may be tempting. Better yet, she made this request via Twitter.“Y’all as tempting as it may be, don’t shoot Obama. We need him to go down in history as the WORST president we’ve EVER had! #2012” were Pierce's exact words, and now she's trying to backpedal.

Pierce apologized for the tweet and set her account to private, but knows she was dead serious when she hit send. Giggling, she toldABC News that her comment was a joke, adding that shooting #44 would "only make the situation worse." Her comrades are sticking up for her though, as Vice President Cassie Wright said she saw nothing wrong with the comment, noting that it was at least said in a "positive way."

Wright added that Pierce's comments were "personal" and "not representative of any group", but fails to realize that when you're the president of anything, your words always represent a group. Especially when they're made using a public forum.
