When Steve Martin wants to give advice, you'd better adhere the funnyman's words. The former Oscars host wrote an open letter to next year's compère Eddie Murphy, and he gave him a pretty interesting list of "tips" to help his evening go swimmingly. You can see the letter in full below, as Martin gives guidance on everything from losing weight to consoling losers.

Steve, I know this is off the subject but I could'nt find an e mail to contact you on, other than this. When I discovered your interest in the banjo and that you are quite adept on the instrument I felt that I just had to contact you on the subject. My instrument has been the trumpet for the last 40 years +. But once I heard the capabilities on the banjo are not limited to dixieland or Carl Sandburg, I wanted to find out more about it. If you could refer me to some recording artist such as yourself I would be very appreciative. I am looking for anything from jazz, classical to minimalist players. Your fan, Henry White. P.S.
