Most jailbirds are lucky enough to wash their ass in a supermax lockup. But the inmates of Wabash Valley have the luxury of bathing in hot water showers that are powered by 15 solar panels mounted on the roof of the building. Measuring at 4 x 10 feet, the solar-energy system preheats H2O to temperatures of 165 degrees and is expected to save millions on energy costs in the long run. Aside from it eco-conscious efforts, the prison also features a 15-foot tall “non-lethal electrified perimeter” that detects interference in a electromagnetic field and is capable of wrapping an escapee in a “pulsing electrified armor” if they fall attempting to climb the stun fence. It’s also said to supply up to three days of power in case of any blackout or power failure.
