Facebook has hired Joe Lockhart, former press secretary for President Bill Clinton, as its new Vice President of Communications. Lockhart, who served in Clinton's second term, will help the social networking giant manage its image as well as relationships with both the government and the media. The company is believed to be strategizing for an Initial Public Offering, which could come as early as next year.
You'll recall that Facebook courted former Obama Press Secretary Robert Gibbs for the job earlier this year, so Lockhart is pretty much the next best thing.
