Whether or not The Dark Tower becomes a film and television series remains to be seen, but there is the possibility of one Stephen King work coming to the small screen in the near future. DreamWorks TV—in other words, Steven Spielberg—will shop the broadcast rights for Under the Dome in the coming months.
The series will be written by Michael Green (the new ABC show The River) and follow what happens to a small town when a mysterious dome drops from above and covers the area. In typical King fashion (think The Stand), a tyrannical leader will take over, to disastrous results. Fingers crossed this one makes it out of development with less hassle than The Dark Tower.
