Arthouse Alert: "Black Swan" in Philadelphia Monday (4/4)

Aronofsky continues his exploration of sacrifice and physical abuse.

Don’t front. You know you wanna see Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis tongue each other down again.

Natalie Portman was busy in 2010, and she capped the year off by announcing her pregnancy. She’s spent the first quarter of this year on award tour, taking home both the Golden Globe and Oscar for her demanding performance in Black Swan. Darren Aronofsky’s latest tale of disturbing behavior was released on DVD this week, but the Trocadero Theatre will bring it back to the big screen as part of its Monday Movie series.

Showtime is at 8 p.m., but get there prior to 7 p.m. for a free beer and bag of popcorn. You’ll be in suspense as a frigid Portman tries to out-sass an effortlessly sexy Mila Kunis throughout 108 minutes of both warped and delightful images. It’s unfortunate that even after all the critical acclaim, the film will probably be best remembered for its sex scenes. But it inspired this list, so no compaints here. -Julian Kimble (@JRK316)
