When photos of Jason Momoa as the new Conan The Barbarian first surfaced online last year, we were skeptical about the Stargate Atlantis alum taking on a role previously popularized by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the ‘80s with a film of the same name. It takes a lot to fill Arnie's vintage shoes. After watching the movie's first teaser, we're still unsure.

The teaser looks like an ad for a syndicated late-‘90s TV series—think Xena: Warrior Princess or Hercules: The Legendary Journeys. Not much is shown other than jacked-up characters' faces covered silhouetted in smoke, including Momoa's sword-swinging Conan. However, we do get an awkward call to arms: “I live, I love, I slay." Add "women" to the end of that and it'd sound a lot like our motto (high five!). Speaking of which, Conan The Barbarian co-stars Rose McGowan and Rachel Nichols, most likely in skimpy old garb, so at least we know our eyes will be happy.

The latest adaptation of author Robert E. Howard’s character will hit screens on August 19.
