There may be snow in the forecast but Marvel Studios is only thinking about the summer. In anticipation of the July 22nd release of Captain America: The First Avenger, Marvel is kicking the hype machine into high gear.

First, Empire magazine released perhaps the clearest picture yet of Chris Evans in his Captain America garb on the cover of its March 2011 issue. Any lingering fears that fans may have had about this movie have certainly been quieted after the picture lit up the web with overwhelmingly positive feedback.

Then today Marvel announced that Captain America would be the star of a brand new digital comic that acts as a prologue for the new film. Titled Captain America: First Vengeance, the comic is designed to give fans a glimpse into Cap’s world and supporting cast before the movie hits theaters. The first issue will be free on Cap's movie site starting February 6. The next seven issues will be available on Marvel's iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch app with release dates still to come.

And the most exciting news is perhaps to come on Sunday with the world premiere of the Captain America: The First Avenger trailer during the Super Bowl. This will be the general public’s first glimpse of Cap in action, and it is sure to be one of the hottest topics on the Internet Sunday evening and Monday morning. And don’t forget that there will also be a brand new Thor trailer shown during the game as well!
