Streaming records are falling left and right these days.
A week after J. Cole's new album, KOD, broke Spotify's record for first-day U.S. album streams with 36,656,086 plays, Post Malone has broken it. Post's new project, Beerbongs & Bentleys, received 47,930,039 streams in the U.S. during its opening day. The album also shattered Spotify's global record, with a total of 78,744,748 streams.
It has not yet been revealed what the individual song figures were, but Post will have to top J. Cole's record of 4.2 million streams for title track "KOD" within the first 24 hours of its release.
This new record continues Post Malone's recent streaming dominance on Spotify. His single, "Rockstar," is closing in on one billion streams, placing it at number 11 on Spotify's list of all-time most streamed songs. Spotify publicly lists Post Malone's average monthly listeners at 38,508,884.
Apple hasn't shared its first-day figures yet, but Post has historically performed very well on their platform as well. At the time of its release, "Rockstar" broke Apple Music's single week record with over 25 million streams.
