UPDATE 10:00 a.m. EST: It looks like 21 Savage was just playing around with us. He shared a video noting that the tattoos were still there, saying "Come on man. This shit for life."

See below for original story.

21 Savage is apparently changing his image—and he’s starting with his signature ink. On Tuesday, the Atlanta rapper posted a Snapchat in which all of his face tattoos—the text as well as the knife between the eyes— appeared to be gone.

"Just got all my tattoos removed, man" 21 Savage said in the clip. "Changed man now. I’m finna go to church."

Of course, the video had the internet shook. But is 21 Savage just messing with us? After the clip was posted, The Fader reached out to the rapper’s team to get confirmation that the tattoos were actually gone. His manager simply replied with a "no comment."

The suspicion surrounding this news is definitely warranted, especially when considering 21 Savage was seen on the BET Hip Hop Awards red carpet this weekend with all of the ink intact. Furthermore, the tattoo removal process is known to be lengthy, and it’s very unlikely that the rapper had them all removed in just a matter of days.

Carmen Vanderheiden, owner of the tattoo removal chain Tataway, told The Fader it takes at least eight sessions for a tattoo to be completely removed by laser. She also said she believes it was "impossible" for all of 21 Savage’s ink to be gone so quickly. So we're going to take the professional's opinion and assume he's trolling.
