Aerosmith doesn't want Presidential hopeful Donald Trump using their songs for his campaign, and they're going all out to make sure he gets the message. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the legendary rock group reportedly sent Trump a cease-and-desist order after he used their song, "Dream On," at various campaign events in Alabama and Georgia. The letter stated: "Trump for President does not have our client’s permission to use ‘Dream On’ or any of our client’s other music in connection with the Campaign because it gives the false impression that he is connected with or endorses Mr. Trump’s presidential bid."
The band has had quite an interesting relationship with Trump over the years, which makes this all the more confusing. If you don't remember, Steven Tyler was a judge for Trump's Miss USA beauty pageant back in 2013, and he also attended August's Republican debate as Trump's guest. Trump has often returned the love for the band, and in a recent interview with Rolling Stone said that he thinks the band, and especially Tyler, are terrific.
Earlier this year, Trump received similar cease-and-desist orders from Neil Young and R.E.M. when he played the songs "Rockin' in the Free World" and "It's The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)" without permission at campaign rallies. It seems that most of the music world really isn't rocking with Mr. Trump.
