Sia Shares New Song "Alive," Co-Written With Adele and Tobias Jesso Jr.

The song was originally intended for Adele's new album.

Sia just dropped a glorious new song titled "Alive," which was never intended for the "Chandelier" singer but meant for Adele'snew album, reportedly due out in November. In a recent interview with RTV Slovenija, Sia explained that she wrote the song with Adele, but that she rejected it at the last minute. “It’s about [Adele’s] life, so I now sing a song from [Adele’s] perspective," she said.

The song is one of many that will now appear on Sia's forthcoming album, titled This Is Acting. “I’m calling it This Is Acting because they are songs I was writing for other people, so I didn’t go in thinking ‘this is something I would say,’” she told NME back in February. “It’s more like play-acting. It’s fun.”

Co-written with Adele and Tobias Jesso Jr., the sweeping indie ballad arrives with a gust of rock-driven wind in its sails like a death-defying anthem in waiting. It's no surprise that Sia slays on vocals —just wait for that 4:00 minute mark note. Listen to "Alive" above.
