Black Star reunited for the first time in ages over a soulful Jay Dee instrumental, released three years after J Dilla's death. Those familiar with Dilla's legendary beat tapes had probably heard the Mary Wells–sampling track prior to the release of Mos Def's The Ecstatic, but Black Star over Dilla for the first time since “Little Brother” was enough to pique any fan's interest. History indeed.
Salute to Mos Def for actually copping a beat and putting money in Ma Dukes' pocket, thus supporting the legacy of her son. After Dilla's death many rappers recorded over his instrumentals, but few actually paid for the pleasure.

actually, "the lauryn track" that jay dee did was this instrumental that was on the voodoo promo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FlQ1llPYBpg it was referred to as "jay dee's joint" in some of the early articles that appeared before the release of the album. "feel like makin love" was created after nothing came of the instrumental.

No "Fall In Love" ?! This list almost loses all credibility for that omission. Also "Bye" is top 10.

Amazing list fot sure. dilla was dope on those spacey tracks he should have gotten more recognition for that.by the way if some people cant play the songs its because their anyivirus is messing up connection to the mp3s
